Our Management Team

Established in 2002, Purple Market Research is led by industry experts, Stephen Bairfelt and Trevor Wilkinson. With experience across multiple sectors, geographies and industries, Stephen and Trevor are leading members of UK research bodies, ensuring that Purple Market Research is at the forefront of industry deleopments, best practice and regulation.

Stephen and Trevor are supported by a team of highly experienced director level researchers, interviewers and analysts with specialist skills spanning B2B, B2C, industry, public, private and third sector research. Purple Market Research frequently partners with sister company Prevision Research and with Social Media Monitoring experts to deliver insightful and robust data.

Stephen has over 30 years of international knowledge as a Market Research professional, with client-side experience and as joint founder of Purple Market Research.

His experience enables Purple Market Research to blend trusted techniques with current technologies and processes to understand the market, trends and business objectives.

Educated at the University of Manchester, Stephen achieved a BSc with honours in Mathematics and Management Sciences. In the corporate world, Stephen developed his skills at Research International in London and New York, the Research Business (now known as Ipsos MORI) and as Head of Research at Shell UK.
Trevor has a wealth of knowledge and experience within the research industry from B2B and stakeholder projects in construction, education, sustainability and energy efficiency.

With a BA in English and Philosophy from Keele University, Trevor has a pragmatic approach to research and embraces new research techniques whilst being mindful to use the right tool for the job, whether new or old.

Trevor developed his expertise at some of the UK’s most prestigious research agencies including Taylor Nelson, BMRB International and ORC international.

After many years as a Non-executive Director of the Market Research Society, Stephen was awarded an MRS fellowship for services to the market research industry.

Trevor is a regular keynote speaker and author on B2B research and is treasurer of the Business intelligence Group (BIG).

The Open University needed to inform the development & marketing of a new qualification and course, the OU PG Diploma in Social Work. The OU specifically wanted to understand the key issues faced by employers of social workers, and their reactions and likely take up to the proposed PG diploma.

Purple Market Research conducted in-depth face to face and telephone interviews with a range of employers which highlighted that price & distance learning were key selling points and that some regions were very likely to take up the course. However, the OU would need to overcome some significant barriers to entry and offer flexible funding options to be successful.
